The National Domestic Violence Hotline
This hotline offers 24/7 support for all those who are affected by domestic abuse through advocacy, safety planning, resources, and hope. It was established in 1996 as part of the Violence Against Women Act passed by Congress, and is available in over 170 different languages. The hotline provides crisis intervention, information and referral to victims of domestic violence, perpetrators, friends, and families, and is a resource for domestic abuse advocates government officials, law enforcement agencies, and the general public. The website provides facts and information about abuse, how to help someone who is being abused, how to support the hotline, and the organization itself. The Kristin Brooks Hope Center
The Kristin Brooks Hope Center was founded by Reese Butler after his wife committed suicide in April of 1998. The organization’s mission is to offer hope for those who are depressed and help them get through the hard times and live a rich life. Its primary program is the National Hopeline Network (1-800-SUICIDE), which connects depressed and/or suicidal individuals to a certified crisis intervention professional. Mothers Against Drunk Driving is an organization that is against the crime of drunk driving. The Truth Campaign is a campaign against the tobacco industry because of how it has been manipulating society and aims to expose that manipulation. It also aims to tell the truth about tobacco and smoking, and help people know the true facts. Truth exists to save lives and help our generation overcome the lies that the tobacco industry has been feeding us. The website has information on the latest tobacco news and facts, and even has actual documents containing statements from the tobacco industry. It also provides information for the Vans Warped Tour 2011, as Truth will be on tour this whole summer.
